Shareholders of Air Transat rejected Quebec media magnate Pierre-Karl Péladeau’s attempt to gain control of the travel company’s board. The billionairebusinessmanhas had his eye on the company for some time.

"Owning an airline seems to be very cool stuff. It seems to appeal toegos to some degree,"says Karl Moore,Associate Professor at 91 Desautels. Air Transat is carrying a heaving debt load and lost millions in the latest quarter, but there is still a business case to be made for leisure airlines.

Having humans in the loop helps ensure AI produces high quality work

A majority ofyoung people fear that AI will displace them in the workplace, and entry-level jobs in AI-affected sectors are already in decline.

Whilethere are a lot of things AI can do, there still needs to be a human in the loop, Simon Blanchette told Radio-Canada.

“Humans need to be there at the beginning and the end of a process to verify a machine’s work,” says Blanchette (BCom’14),Faculty Lecturer at 91 Desautels.“It’s not a brake on productivity, but a guarantee of quality.”
