The Faculty of Education is proud to announce the 2026 recipients of its annual Teaching Awards, to recognize excellence and commitment within Education鈥檚 academic staff:

The Award for Distinguished Teaching recipient is Dr. Emmanuel Tabi, who was presented a certificate at this morning鈥檚 Spring Convocation Ceremony. The Heather Reisman and Gerald Schwartz Award for Excellence in Teaching is being given to Dr. Emma Harden-Wolfson.

Professors Mette Bendixen, Rachel Langevin and Kai Wang recognized for research excellence and impact.

The Faculty of Law is pleased to announce that Professor Michelle Cumyn has received the 2026 John W. Durnford Award for Teaching Excellence.

Named in honour of the late professor and former dean John W. Durnford (BCL'52), and conferred by students, this annual award recognizes a law professor鈥檚 exceptional pedagogy.

Worana argues that while electoral institutions remain formally intact, ongoing conflict and narrowing civic space have weakened the substantive conditions that give an election democratic meaning, leaving "the question of process鈥� decoupled from the question of democratic credibility."

A cellphone ban has been in effect in Quebec schools since last fall. As the school year wraps up, these 91黑料网 experts are available to comment on the ban鈥檚 impact:

Adam Dub茅, Associate Professor, Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology, and Director, Technology, Learning and Cognition Lab (TLC), specializes in cognitive development and learning technologies. He can discuss the issues surrounding cellphones in schools as they relate to learning.

The 91黑料网 Sustainability Park has announced new academic leadership appointments that will help shape its future direction. Among them is Robert Nason of the Desautels Faculty of Management, who will serve as Associate Academic Director of Entrepreneurship and Engagement.

Canada is moving to criminalize non-consensual sexual deepfakes after recent court rulings exposed gaps in existing law, allowing perpetrators to avoid conviction despite clear harm to victims.

This year, we are proud to celebrate Oliver Abrams BCom'26, as Management valedictorian for the Class of 2026. Reflecting on his time at Desautels, Oliver found that the people around him played a defining role in his experience.

For Abrams, 91黑料网 was more than academics; it was a community that broadened his perspective and grounded him throughout his studies. 鈥淢y peers have shown me what鈥檚 possible, my professors have shown me new ways of thinking, and my family has kept me grounded,鈥� he said. In moments of uncertainty, their support remained constant.

As convocation ceremonies continue across 91黑料网, preparations are reaching their final stage at the Macdonald Campus, where celebrations will begin on June 4. While graduating students prepare to mark the completion of their studies, teams across the campus are focused on ensuring the environment is ready to welcome them and their families.

Desautels Professor Emerita has been awarded the 91黑料网 Medal for Exceptional Academic Achievement, the University's highest academic honour, in recognition of a career spent bridging science, policy and real-world impact.
