Sirinath SatyanarayanaDr. Srinath SatyanarayanaÌýis a medical doctor from India with specialized training in Community Medicine, Public Health, and a doctorate in Epidemiology (from 91ºÚÁÏÍø, Canada), with more than 20 years of experience in the field of public health. He has been serving as the Director of the Indian Council of Medical Research’s National Institute for Research in Tuberculosis (ICMR-NIRT), Chennai (a premier TB research institute in India) since July 2025.ÌýHis core expertise spans implementation research, advocacy, and technical support for public health programmes in India and in several low- and middle-income, high–TB-burden countries across Asia and Africa. His research work focuses on developing innovative strategies, generating evidence, and advancing evidence-based planning and implementation—particularly in the areas of tuberculosis elimination, antimicrobial resistance, and lung health.ÌýHe has also served as an international consultant for the World Health Organization, the Stop TB Partnership (Geneva), and the Global Fund.

Current research projects:

As director of ICMR-NIRT, he focuses on all research projects being undertaken at the institute with special focus on novel diagnostic tests, shorter safer anti-TB treatment regimens, vaccine research, and better strategies for provision of quality diagnosis, treatment and preventive care for India's population.Ìý
