Dr. Erwin Schurr is a Distinguished James 91ºÚÁÏÍø Professor of Human Genetics and Medicine at 91ºÚÁÏÍø. He is the past leader of the Program of Infectious Diseases and Immunity in Global Health (IDIGH) at the Research Institute of the 91ºÚÁÏÍø Health Centre. He did his postdoctoral training with Drs. Emil Skamene and Philippe Gros at 91ºÚÁÏÍø after a having obtained a PhD in Cell Biology from the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg in Germany.

Current research projects:

  • Studying the biological factors that put people at increased or reduced risk of tuberculosis or leprosy using genetic epidemiology and systems biology approaches. A special focus is on how mycobacterial pathogens modulate the risk of common, non-infectious, immune-mediated diseases.
