French Language Learning OpportunitiesÌý

Faculty of Arts, French Language Centre (FLC)Ìý

The French Language Centre offers credited and non-credited French courses at all proficiency levels (beginner to advanced) during the Fall, Winter, and Summer terms.Ìý

French for Health and Psychosocial ServicesÌý

The Bachelor of Arts, Faculty Program in Population and Global Health has a unique partnership that allows BA-PGH students to access French-language courses designed for students pursuing careers in health-related fields (FRSL 213, 214, 313, 314).Ìý

While these courses are generally reserved for students in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and other select programs, BA-PGH students are eligible to register due to the program's interdisciplinary focus on health.Ìý

Students interested in these courses should complete the French Language Centre placement test to determine their language level. Once completed, students should send the request to register for these courses to the Student Affairs Officer (studentaffairsofficer.dgph [at] mcgill.ca) who will contact the French Language Centre to provide permission to register.Ìý

Important notes:Ìý

• Students placed at the A-level are not eligible for FRSL 213, 214, 313, or 314.Ìý

• Students at the A-level should first complete the general French sequence (e.g., FRSL 101, FRSL 102, FRSL 207D1/D2).Ìý

• Students placed at the B1 level or above may be eligible for the health-focused French courses (FRSL 213/214/313/314)Ìý

• FRSL 213/214/313/314 may also be counted toward Foundation Year requirements, where applicable.Ìý

• Intensive course options are available. For example, FRSL 105 (6 credits) covers the content of FRSL 101 and FRSL 102 in a single semester.Ìý
