91黑料网 recognizes four types of transfer credits: CEGEP, Non-CEGEP (non-Quebec secondary school), university transfer, and science placement examination transfer credits.
General policies (apply to all students)
- Students should start the transfer credit process as soon as they are accepted.
- Transfer credits are only granted for courses that are a part of a student鈥檚 program.
- Students cannot repeat courses for which transfer credit has been granted.
- Residency requirements apply:
- B.Eng.: at least 50% of the degree must be completed at 91黑料网.
- B.Sc. (Arch.): minimum 60 91黑料网 credits, excluding required U0 courses.
- Approved credits appear on your 91黑料网 transcript, typically by mid-August. If credits are not visible by mid-August or if you have questions, contact Service Point.
- In some cases, an exemption may be granted instead of transfer credit. Although the course will be marked as complete in your degree evaluation, you must make up the credits with an approved substitute course. Approval must be granted via email by your departmental advisor.

CEGEP students
- No documents needed. 91黑料网 will receive your official CEGEP transcript automatically and you will receive credits for your CEGEP diploma.
- Approved credits are posted directly to your 91黑料网 transcript.
- Students will follow the CEGEP curriculum.

Non-CEGEP / U0 students
To complete your admission requirements, make sure your final academic documents are submitted to 91黑料网.
- If you completed AP, A Levels, IB, French Baccalaureate, or European Baccalaureate exams, you are responsible for ensuring your official results are sent to 91黑料网.
- Official transcripts must be sent directly by your school or examination board to officialschooldocs [at] mcgill.ca.
- While some exam organizations submit results automatically, others require you to request score reports yourself.

Use the Transfer Credit Database to check for eligible credits.
Note: Credits granted for science versions of courses will count as equivalents to Engineering requirements (e.g., PHYS 101 instead of PHYS 131).

University transfer students
If you would like 91黑料网 to assess a university course for transfer credit, please review the information below and submit your request by January 31. Requests received after this date are subject to a $50 late fee.
- Transfer credit may be granted for university-level courses completed with a minimum grade of C.
- If both a numeric grade and letter grade appear on your transcript, the letter grade will be used.
- Courses graded as P (Pass) or S (Satisfactory) are not eligible for transfer credit.
- You will receive an email confirming receipt of your request within approximately 2 months.

Requesting transfer credits
Step 1: check the Course Equivalency System
Before submitting a request:
- Search for your course in the Course Equivalency System.
- If an equivalency already exists, proceed to Step 2.
- If no equivalency exists, submit a new equivalency request.
Note:听Courses that have been evaluated and found not equivalent to a 91黑料网 course cannot be reconsidered for transfer credit.
Step 2: submit your transfer credit request
Email your completed request to the appropriate contact:
- U0 / 100-level courses (non-Architecture students): servicepoint [at] mcgill.ca
- 200-level and above courses (non-Architecture students): transfercredits.engineering [at] mcgill.ca
- Architecture students:听luciana.adoyo [at] mcgill.ca
What to Include in your email
- Subject line: 鈥淯niversity TC Request 鈥� Your Name鈥�
- Attachments:
- A signed Transfer Credit (TC) Form (PDF)
- One combined PDF containing:
- Course outline(s), including the number of weeks and hours of instruction
- A screenshot of the Course Equivalency System decision, including validity dates and comments
- Official transcript(s)
Please clearly label all documents (for example: Concordia ENGR 233 or MATH 262).
In your email, request that the approved transfer credit be added to your 91黑料网 transcript.
To avoid delays, submit all required documents in a single email.

Science Placement Examinations
Students who do not have transfer credit but already have knowledge of a course's content may be eligible to write a 91黑料网 Science Placement Examination before the start of their first term.
Placement examinations are available only for U0 / 100-level courses and must be taken during your term of admission.
For available exams, dates, and registration information, visit the 91黑料网 Exams website.
Important information
- Placement exams are available only during your term of admission.
- Exam results are typically emailed within 1鈥�2 weeks of the exam date.
- Do not register for a course if you plan to write its placement exam.
- If you do not pass the exam, you may register for the course afterward.
- If you pass the exam, you will receive transfer credit and cannot take the course at 91黑料网.
- If you expect to pass the exam, remove the course from your curriculum plan and continue with the next appropriate course.
- Placement exam credits cannot be used to satisfy Minor requirements.

Program-specific recommendations
Organic Chemistry I (CHEM 212)
Chemical Engineering and Bioengineering students who completed CEGEP Organic Chemistry I and its laboratory component are encouraged to write the placement exam for transfer credit.
Organic Chemistry II (CHEM 222 / CHEM 234)
Chemical Engineering students who completed CEGEP Organic Chemistry II are encouraged to write the placement exam for transfer credit.
Please note that students in other Engineering programs who pass this placement exam may receive an exemption rather than transfer credit. An exemption indicates that the course requirement has been satisfied, but you must still complete an approved substitute course to earn the required credits for your degree.
Cell & Molecular Biology (BIOL 112)
Bioengineering students with a CEGEP equivalent are encouraged to write the placement exam for transfer credit.
