About the EDIT study

What is the EDIT study?

The EDIT study is a 5-year study looking at type 2 diabetes, diabetes treatmentÌýand well-being sponsored by the . The study involves interviewing people who have type 2 diabetes over a 5-year period toÌýunderstandÌýwhat influences their well-being.Ìý

Type 2 diabetes is a chronic condition where patients are required to adapt to a new lifestyle in order to maintain blood sugar levels. It can sometimes be difficult for people with diabetes to maintain the strict regimens reccommended by their Doctors and this can affect people physically, sociallyÌýand psychologically. We are interested in learning more about the social and psychological impact of living with diabetes type 2, as we believe that by better understanding the patient perspective of living with diabetes we can help future patients and their physicians better understand this illness.

Why is the EDIT study important?

There has been a lot of research done that looks at type 2 diabetes and psychological well-being. However, there has been very little research conducted on a large scale such as this. We need to conduct a study in a large number of people as this gives us a more accurate representation of the relationship between diabetes treatmentÌýand well-being in the general population.ÌýÌý
