Biography: 

The Lands laboratory formulates lipid nanoparticles for the delivery of therapeutic nucleic acids and small molecules. Using both a robotic liquid handler and dual-pump microfluidics, we tailor the formulation based on the cargo, route of delivery (for example, intranasal, inhaled, intravenous), and the target tissue and cell. The lab is equipped for lipid nanoparticle characterization and cellular studies, with standard and specialized downstream assays (Ussing chamber, FLIPR assay, highspeed videomicrscopy for ciliary beating assessment, mucus rheology). The lab is uniquely equipped to study nebulization of lipid nanoparticles onto cell cultures. Current work is focused on delivering Prime Editing components to respiratory cells using inhaled and injectable lipid nanoparticles. Other work is developing inhalable lipid nanoparticles for delivery of antisense oligonucleotides and siRNA to respiratory epithelial cells and injectable lipid nanoparticles for delivery of Prime Editing components to skeletal muscle.
