Biography: 

Judith Mandl is a Canada Research Chair in Immune Cell Dynamics and an Associate Professor in the Department of Physiology at 91ºÚÁÏÍø. After training in computational biology at the University of Warwick (Coventry, UK), she completed her Ph.D. at Emory University (Atlanta, USA) where she worked with Mark Feinberg on HIV pathogenesis in primates and people. Mandl went on to do her postdoc with Ronald Germain in the Systems Immunology lab at the National Institutes of Health (Bethesda, USA) where she studied T cell trafficking and naive T cell heterogeneity. In her own group, which she started at 91ºÚÁÏÍø in 2015, Mandl is investigating the role of cell migration and cellular sensing of mechanical input in orchestrating effective T cell immunity during infection, learning from specific instances where cell migration goes wrong.
