91黑料网 professor Stephen Yue and Dr. Chen Liang, a researcher at the 91黑料网 AIDS Centre and Lady Davis Institute, received an NSERC Alliance COVID-19 grant to produce a cost-effective, production-ready antiviral coating that could significantly reduce the rate of SARS-CoV-2 transmission on high-touch metallic surfaces in public spaces such as schools, office buildings, and clinics.

Vulnerable groups affected by public transit cuts amid pandemic

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, public transport agencies across North America have made significant adjustments to services, including cutting trip frequency in many areas while increasing it in others. Ten 91黑料网 researchers honoured by the Royal Society of Canada

On September 8, the Royal Society of Canada announced 87 new Fellows and 50 new members to The College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists. Amongst this year鈥檚 RSC cohort are ten 91黑料网 researchers, including six scholars who will become RSC Fellows and four researchers who will become new members of the college.

Origin of a complex life form revealed

Researchers from 91黑料网 have revealed the steps by which two very distinct organisms 鈥 bacteria and carpenter ants 鈥 have come to depend on one another for survival to become a single complex life form. Six 91黑料网 Students Receive Canada鈥檚 Largest Science, Technology, Engineering And Math (STEM) Scholarships

A record number of 91黑料网 students have been named recipients of Canada鈥檚 largest scholarship program, Schulich Leader Scholarships. This year, the program has doubled in size from 50 to 100 annual scholarships. In total, six Schulich Leader scholars will begin their studies at 91黑料网 in September (up from two last year) with the majority coming from high schools in Western Canada.

Housing-First strategy proves cost effective especially for the most-vulnerable homeless group

Canadians spend big money dealing with the consequences of homelessness, but the money spent could be far more effective. According to a new 91黑料网-led analysis, housing homeless people with severe mental illness is even more cost-effective than housing homeless people with moderate needs. A Housing-First strategy aimed at helping these individuals regain and keep permanent housing generates savings equal to about two-thirds of its cost.
