Tibia. Osteomyelitis of shaft following splitting off of longitudinal splinter by iron ball.
The patient sustained a gunshot wound in the leg in the battle of Cold Harbour on June 3, 1862. The patient was admitted to the hospital approximately three weeks later on June 24 and died of exhaustion August 14, 1862.
