Talking through Space: Oral History and Architectural Memory

Dr. Jesse Adams Stein is a design researcher and oral historian whose work focuses on labour, technology and industries in transition. She has written widely on workers’ experiences in manufacturing, industrial craft and the creative industries, including two monographs: Industrial Craft in Australia (2021) and Hot Metal (2016). In 2025 she co-edited two collections on labour, skill and climate change, following her 2023 international symposium "All Hands on Deck." A former ARC DECRA Fellow, Dr. Adams Stein is a Senior Lecturer in Design at UTS. She has worked with cultural and collecting institutions across Australia, and led two oral history projects with the National Library of Australia. 

This seminar is presented as part of the ARCH711/712 Doctoral Proseminar in Architecture at the School of Architecture.
