 Stein is a design researcher and oral historian whose work focuses on labo
 ur\, technology and industries in transition. She has written widely on wo
 rkers’ experiences in manufacturing\, industrial craft and the creative in
 dustries\, including two monographs: Industrial Craft in Australia (2021) 
 and Hot Metal (2016). In 2025 she co-edited two collections on labour\, sk
 ill and climate change\, following her 2023 international symposium 'All H
 ands on Deck.' A former ARC DECRA Fellow\, Dr. Adams Stein is a Senior Lec
 turer in Design at UTS. She has worked with cultural and collecting instit
 utions across Australia\, and led two oral history projects with the Natio
