Leon Tourian

Headshot of Leon TourianLEON TOURIAN,ÌýMSc, MD, FRCPC is a psychiatrist, medical educator, and academic leader at the 91ºÚÁÏÍø Health Centre (MUHC). He serves as Associate Dean of Postgraduate Medical Education (PGME) at 91ºÚÁÏÍø, where he provides oversight for more than 70 residency programs and over 300 fellowship programs. Alongside his academic leadership role, Dr. Tourian is deeply engaged in community-based mental health initiatives. He has served as President of the Board of Directors of Les Impatients since 2021 and as Co-Chair of its Scientific Committee since 2023, contributing to the promotion of the mental health benefits of artistic practice, fundraising efforts, and organizational development. He is also Chief of the Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Service at the MUHC, with a clinical and research focus on consultation-liaison psychiatry, ICU psychiatry, and pain psychiatry. He collaborates on a longitudinal clinical databank of more than 800 patients at the Alan Edwards Pain Management Unit, with particular interest in the interface between chronic pain and mental health. At the academic and professional level, Dr. Tourian has chaired the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Specialty Committee in Psychiatry since 2022 and serves on the Board of Directors of the Association des médecins psychiatres du Québec, where he chairs the Subspecialty Committee, contributing to the evolution of competency-based training and the organization of specialized psychiatric care to better align with population needs.
