Course Registration and Minerva Waitlists

Please take note that聽we do not bypass the Minerva waitlist system. For a chance to be invited to register for a class with an active聽waitlist, you will need to monitor the waitlist status in Minerva and add yourself to it once spaces free up there for you to do so.聽Access聽this helpful guide for more information about the Minerva waitlist system.聽Classes that have a lecture and lab component will not have waitlists however as the system does not function for these courses.聽If a class is full and has no waitlist, please keep checking Minerva actively for spaces freeing up in the course so that you may register.

Graduating students: If you require a Geography class that is currently full for your program in order to graduate in fall 2025 or winter 2026, please advisor.geog [at] mcgill.ca (contact the Geography Advisor for guidance). For programs offered by other departments that list GEOG classes, you may also contact your Program Advisor to discuss alternatives.

Registration pro tip: Use the聽Minerva Class Search menu聽"Step 2: Search Class Schedule and Add Course Sections" found under the "Student"聽> "Registration" menus to access full details about courses offered. Use the "Advanced search" function, select a discipline while leaving all other fields blank and click on "Get course sections" for complete expanded details on all classes offered by the unit in a single page. Click on the course CRN to view the course description, pre-requisites and restrictions. Instructors assigned to courses are listed in this menu and Professors' emails can be found in their profiles on Departmental website "People" pages.聽
