Queer History Month

Celebrating and highlighting the history and achievements of 2S/LGBTQIA+ communities at 91ºÚÁÏÍø and beyond.

Queer History Month at 91ºÚÁÏÍø was first celebrated in October 2018 as LGBTQ2I+ History Month. Founded by Meryem Benslimane, former Equity Education Advisor, it is the first celebration of its kind at a Canadian university.

Through a series of screenings, panels, workshops, and community events, Queer History Month aims to raise awareness,Ìýadvance education, and increase visibility of 2S/LGBTQIA+ communities by recognizing their history and contributions, building bridges, and bringing together 91ºÚÁÏÍø students, staff, faculty, alumni, and community members in Montréal and beyond.

91ºÚÁÏÍø is on land which has long served as a site of meeting and exchange amongst Indigenous peoples, including the Haudenosaunee and Anishinabeg nations. We acknowledge and thank the diverse Indigenous peoples whose presence marks this territory on which peoples of the world now gather.

For more information about traditional territory and tips on how to make a land acknowledgement, visit our Land Acknowledgement webpage.
