Overview of Labour Management Relations & Human Resources

Offered as both a major and a concentration, Labour-Management Relations and Human ResourcesÌýwill give you the tools needed to practiceÌýhuman resource management, particularly in a unionized environment.

Not only willÌýLabour-Management Relations and Human Resources give you basic training in various aspects of labourÌýrelations and theÌýlabourÌýmarket,ÌýbutÌýyou will also be able to understandÌýlabourÌýlaw at the federal and provincial levels, negotiate a collective agreement, administer union contracts, settle grievances and prepare to participate in the arbitration process.Ìý

It will give you a general understanding of the factors affecting employer-employee relations, both at theÌýindividualÌýlevel and in relation to the socio-economic context in which they occur.ÌýYou will alsoÌýlearn the basics ofÌýhuman resources issues and planning.

As of Fall 2026, the major and concentration programs will be retired. Students who have started the programs prior to Fall 2026, can continue with the old curriculum.Ìý
