Bombardier鈥檚 past haunts it as NYC blocks it from bidding on new subway cars

According to a story in the Montreal Gazette, Bombardier has been frozen out of a bidding process to build up to 1,695 new subway cars for the New York City Metropolitan Transit Authority due to cost overruns and late delivery on an earlier MTA contract. The beleaguered company鈥檚 early performance on a contract for Toronto鈥檚 new streetcars was similarly poor, though Bombardier says that it has been meeting deadlines for the past year.

Ram Panda (MEng鈥71, MBA鈥77) is the new chair of the 91黑料网 Board of Governors. He came to Canada from his native India in 1968 to study electrical engineering at 91黑料网, and never left. In 1978, he co-founded metal-industry software maker Invera Inc., which rapidly became a major player in its market.

Karl Moore on Air Transat: the company needs to learn from its mistakes

TeamMTL, the joint 91黑料网-Concordia team developing the Deep Performance Dwelling for the Solar Decathlon China, has just received $250,000 from Hydro-Quebec to help the team get to the competition in 2018. The money will be used to finish construction of the team鈥檚 entry, which is a row-house designed to be net-zero energy and sustainably built, yet affordable and comfortable to live in.
