After completing her undergraduate degree and gaining several years of professional experience, Wala Amara decided to return to university to deepen her expertise and strengthen her academic foundation. “I went back knowing exactly what I wanted to do to complement my first degree,” she says.

Wala enrolled in the Certificate in Public Relations and Communications Management to build on her background in journalism and her career in sports media. Today, she is a Brand Strategy and PR Director at a global sports agency in London, where she leads international projects, including Formula 1 and the PIF Global Series golf tournament.

The flexibility of evening classes at the School of Continuing Studies (SCS) allowed her to balance demanding work and studies. Wala also valued the learning environment: “The instructors were amazing and genuinely curious about our careers,” she notes.

Her path was anything but linear. It included international moves, high-pressure roles, and a two-year pause due to work commitments. “It was long, but so purposeful,” she reflects. Throughout her journey, her motivation to earn a 91 credential and invest in herself kept her moving forward. “I always say: bet on yourself, it’s the most important thing.”

Wala credits the SCS program and its instructors with helping her develop many of the skills she now considers essential in the sports industry, including the ability to communicate effectively, build connections, and navigate complex environments.

For those considering a return to school, Wala offers clear advice: “SCS provides real-world insight, with material you can apply on the job the very next day. Studying alongside other professionals makes it a truly unique experience.”

Congratulations, Wala, on your recent graduation and inspiring achievements!
