Leading sustainable apparel manufacturer Gildan has partnered with the 91黑料网 Desautels Faculty of Management to advance the University鈥檚 Sustainable Growth Initiative. The collaborative effort aims to create actionable strategies for businesses transitioning to sustainability. Over three years, Gildan will be generously contributing $150,000 to 91黑料网's Annual Grand Challenge on Sustainability. The event, launching this August, encourages Canadian students to address apparel industry sustainability issues.

RECYC-QU脡BEC, the branch responsible for sustainable waste management, recently awarded 91黑料网鈥檚 downtown campus the Performance certification level of its ICI on recycle + program.

Surveying the body sizes of Earth鈥檚 living organisms, researchers from 91黑料网 and University of British Columbia found that the planet鈥檚 biomass 鈥� the material that makes up all living organisms 鈥� is concentrated in organisms at either end of the size spectrum.
The researchers spent five years compiling and analyzing about the size and biomass of every type of living organism on the planet鈥攆rom tiny one-celled organisms like soil archaea and bacteria to large organisms like blue whales and sequoia trees.
In 2017, the Donald E. Armstrong Building on McTavish Street, former home of the 91黑料网 bookstore, underwent extensive renovations, and it鈥檚 now the home of Desautels鈥� masters鈥� programs. Throughout the Armstrong building鈥檚 transformation, efforts were made to reduce environmental impact. Its energy efficiency was improved by 37% and water efficiency by 40%. 91黑料网鈥檚 plans for the future are even more ambitious.
