Power in Numbers: Celebrating Women's Political Involvement is a partnership between the 91黑料网 Women in House Program and the 91黑料网 Institute for the Study of Canada. This event will commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Women in House Program. We look forward to seeing you there.

A groundbreaking student initiative, the Women in House program was created in 2001 by 91黑料网 students Galit Dobner and Chi Nguyen. This one of a kind program offers female 91黑料网 students a two-day trip to Ottawa, during which participants take a tour of Parliament, hear individual politicians speak attend panel discussions, and it also provides students the opportunity to spend a day shadowing a female MP or Senator. The program aims to foster in participants an interest in pursuing a career in Canadian politics, and more importantly, in demonstrating that the obstacles to achieving these goals can be overcome. By spending a day with a female MP or Senator, students acquire an inside view of political life, a perspective unattainable in a traditional classroom setting. The program is fully subsidized and non partisan.

In this light, the goal of this 10th Anniversary conference is to celebrate and commemorative the crucial role this program has played in inspiring and empowering female 91黑料网 students by encouraging them to get more involved politically. It also serves as a one of a kind opportunity to inform students, on a larger scale, about women鈥檚 chronic under-representation at all levels of government. It will be an early evening conference, featuring some of the most prominent women to have served in Canadian politics. An event not to be missed!
