L’espace de liberté, sécurité et justice de l’Union européenne : une politique comme les autres?

Wednesday, April 15, 2009 11:30to13:00
Chancellor Day Hall 3644 rue Peel, Montreal, QC, H3A 1W9, CA

One of the fundamental objectives of the European Union is to offer its citizens an area of freedom, security and justice without internal borders and using a single currency. However, dealing with delicate questions such as state sovereignty and fundamental issues that touch upon immigration rights and the war on terror is complex. The classical model of how broad community and public policies are established does not always succeed. The speaker will critically analyze this construction through the lens of the Treaty of Lisbon to measure what has been accomplished so far and what remains to be addressed.
