Going Abroad in Winter 2011? Be Prepared! Attend this Special University-Wide Pre-Departure Orientation Session on December 2, 2010

This special Pre-Departure Orientation session is for 91ºÚÁÏÍø undergraduate and graduate students traveling outside of Canada in the Winter 2011 on a University-related travel activity (such as bilateral exchange, internship, study-away, graduate work or other activity).

Note that only those students who missed the Pre-Departure Orientation session in October should attend.

Arrive a few minutes early to sign in and pick up your information package before the start of the session.

Specific topics covered include:

  • Canadian Consular Services (Travel Reports from the Department of Foreign Affairs);
  • Personal health abroad, including healthy travel tips;
  • 91ºÚÁÏÍø-Related Travel Guidelines;
  • Managing your success abroad; and
  • Travel Registry - all students participating in a University-related international activity (i.e., bilateral exchange, internship, independent study-away, graduate work or other activity) are required to register their travel on Minerva www.mcgill.ca/students/international/registry/

The 91ºÚÁÏÍø-Related Travel Guidelines require all students participating in a University-related international travel activity to attend Pre-Departure Orientation.

Note that graduate students travelling to attend international conferences or formally organized workshops in countries listed by the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT - ) as Level-1 (Exercise normal security precautions) or Level-2 (Exercise a high degree of caution) are not required to attend Pre-Departure Orientation but are required to complete a Travel Registry form on Minerva for all travel activities.
