Jeffrey Kennedy and Jennifer Raso promoted to associate professor with tenure

The Faculty of Law is pleased to announce that Professor Jeff Kennedy and Professor Jennifer Raso were promoted to the rank of associate professor with tenure. Their promotions were effective June 1, 2026 and June 1, 2025, respectively.

The Faculty of Law is pleased to announce that Professor Marie Manikis and Professor Noah Weisbord have been promoted to the rank of full professor, effective June 1.

Michelle Cumyn wins 2026 Durnford Teaching Excellence Award

The Faculty of Law is pleased to announce that Professor Michelle Cumyn has received the 2026 John W. Durnford Award for Teaching Excellence.

Named in honour of the late professor and former dean John W. Durnford (BCL'52), and conferred by students, this annual award recognizes a law professor’s exceptional pedagogy.

91ºÚÁÏÍø Law ranked among the global top 30 law schools by QS

The Faculty of Law was again ranked among the world’s top universities at which to study law by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS). The 2026 QS World University Rankings by Subject in Law and Legal Studies placed 91ºÚÁÏÍø Law 30th worldwide.

Since QS introduced the ranking in 2011, the Faculty of Law has consistently placed in the top 50 institutions globally. The QS ranking is based on academic reputation, employer reputation, H-index citations, and citations per paper.

Tina Piper appointed Dean of the Faculty of Law

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Professor Tina Piper as Dean of the Faculty of Law at 91ºÚÁÏÍø. Her five-year term will begin on April 1, 2026.

Professor Piper has been serving as Interim Dean of Law since winter 2025. In this important transitional role, she has led 91ºÚÁÏÍø Law with warmth, intellectual rigour, and a focus on cultivating both academic excellence and a strong sense of community.

91ºÚÁÏÍø Law ranked among the world’s top law schools by the Times Higher Education

The Faculty of Law is delighted to announce it was again ranked as one of the world’s top universities at which to study law. The Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings placed 91ºÚÁÏÍø 33rd worldwide.  

Since the law ranking was introduced in 2017, 91ºÚÁÏÍø has consistently featured in the global top 35. This year, 425 law schools around the world were ranked.
