Abstract Guidelines - 2026

General Guidelines

  • Only students or trainees are permitted to submit an abstract. (A traineemust be enrolled in a university.)
  • The first author is considered the primary and presenting author.
  • Abstract must be submitted by the first author.
  • Each first author may submit only one abstract.
  • Registration is mandatory.Youmust complete a registration formڴǰsubmitting an abstract.
  • Any accompanying supervisor or colleague (who plansto attendmust also complete a registration form.
  • Abstracts previously submitted to theCardiovascular Research Daywillnot be accepted.
  • Select the appropriate category for your submission: “Basic Science” or “Clinical or Population Health Research”.
  • Provide3 to 5 keywords.
  • Indicate your preferred presentation format: oral, poster, or either.
  • Abstracts will be assignedtooral or poster sessionsbased on the authorpreference, blinded peer review,and the Scientific Planning Committee’s final decision.
  • The Scientific Planning Committee may encourage an oral presentation.
  • Any AI-generated content must be disclosed at the beginning of thepresentation.
  • Other research members (non-trainees/employees) may submit their work as poster abstracts only.
    They will not be eligible for awards, butmustfollow the same guidelines.

​Abstract Guidelines

  • The abstract must not exceed 400 words, excluding the title.
  • Authornames and affiliations do not count toward the word limit.
  • Abstract over400 words will be shortened without notice.
  • Do not include tables,figures, references, credits, or grant support.
  • Use the standard abstract structure:
    • Background: Brief statement of the purpose of the study.
    • Methods: Overview of the investigative methods.
    • Results: Summary of findings with sufficient detail to support conclusions.
    • Conclusion: Clear statement of the conclusions.
  • Spell out all abbreviationsthe first time they appear, followed by the abbreviations in parenthesis. Keep abbreviationsto a minimum.
  • Use numerals fornumbers except whenbeginning a sentence.
  • Use generic (non-proprietary) drug names.
  • Do not include names or identifying information ofpatient participants.
  • Abstracts that containidenticalor nearly-identical text from previously submitted abstracts will not be eligible for awards or oral presentation.
  • Proofread carefully. No spelling or grammar editing will be performed. Abstracts will be published as submitted(except for length)
