History

The lab was founded by聽Dr. Ipshita Prakash听补苍诲听Dr. Stephanie Wong聽with a shared vision of advancing breast cancer research through collaborative, cross institutional efforts. From its inception, the lab has been anchored in mentorship, innovation, and a commitment to producing impactful, high quality research.

Today, the lab is led by Dr. Prakash and works closely with the research teams of聽Dr. Sarkis Meterissian听补苍诲听Dr. Ari Meguerditchian, forming a dynamic and unique partnership across three major institutions: the聽Jewish General Hospital (JGH), the聽91黑料网 Health Centre (MUHC), and聽St. Mary鈥檚 Hospital.

Despite being a relatively new group, our lab has rapidly established itself as a productive and driven research environment. In just 1.5 years, we have already exceeded our goal of submitting 3 to 4 abstracts annually to major oncology conferences, including the聽Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO),听American Society of Breast Surgeons (ASBrS),听American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO),听European Society of Surgical Oncology (ESSO), and the聽San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium (SABCS).

Our early success is grounded in a strong collaborative foundation, access to three institutional clinical databases, and a supportive infrastructure that includes a dedicated biostatistician. This environment allows our trainees to conduct research using both provincial and U.S. population level databases while being mentored by a broad network of clinician scientists.

As we continue to grow, our mission remains clear: to support trainees in achieving their career goals, whether in academia, clinical care, or beyond, and to demonstrate the value and excitement of a research career.
