Global Food Security


Overview

Students in the Specialization in Global Food Security acquire a global and applied understanding of agriculture as a fundamental tool to help rural development, alleviate poverty and reach food security, especially in a world context. It provides students with a combined understanding of global contexts and economically sustainable approaches to provide acceptable nutrition. While gaining knowledge of water resources, sustainable development, nutrition, planning and development, students can also incorporate aspects of livestock and crop production into their portfolios with access to hands-on practice via internships. 

This Specialization is taken under the Major in Sustainable Agricultural Systems with connections to Field Crops and Horticultures and Livestock, and provides an opportunity to take dedicated agronomic content leading eligibility requirements for the Ordre des agronomes du Québec (OAQ).
