10 Years of Impact: 91ºÚÁÏÍø Summer Institutes in Global Health

From May 20 to June 13, 2025, we proudly celebrated the tenth edition of the 91ºÚÁÏÍø Summer Institutes in Global Health, bringing together a truly global community through 14 inspiring courses offered in Montreal, online, and in hybrid formats.

A Decade of Growth and Learning

Over the past decade, the Summer Institutes have delivered 95 courses and welcomed more than 6,800 learners from around the world. What began as a small initiative has grown into an international platform for advancing knowledge and fostering collaboration in global health, infectious diseases, and health equity. This journey has been shaped by the dedication of our course directors, learners, faculty, academic partners, advocates, and the team in the Department of Global and Public Health (DGPH) at 91ºÚÁÏÍø, all of whom have contributed to its ongoing success.

The 2025 edition marked an important milestone!

Participation reached a new record, with 1,500 course registrations and 1,185 individual participants, the largest turnout in our history. Learners represented 82 countries, with over 70% coming from low- and middle-income countries, reflecting our commitment to accessible and inclusive global health education. More than 320 speakers from around the world shared their expertise, enriching the learning experience for all. Among the 14 courses offered, new additions includedÌýOne Health Approaches to Infectious DiseasesÌý²¹²Ô»åÌýNon-Communicable Diseases Prevention and Management.

This success was made possible thanks to the collaboration of our valued partners, including the 91ºÚÁÏÍø International TB Centre, the J.D. Maclean Centre for Tropical Diseases, MI4, the 91ºÚÁÏÍø AMR Centre, the 91ºÚÁÏÍø Centre for Viral Diseases, the School of Population and Global Health, the School of Physical and Occupational Therapy, the University of Ottawa, the Nkabom Collaborative, the CAN-AMR Network, Results Canada, and the 91ºÚÁÏÍø Centre of Genomics and Policy.

We are equally grateful to our sponsors BD, bioMérieux, Revvity, and Molbio Diagnostics, whose generous support expanded access for learners worldwide.

As we close this special anniversary edition, we look ahead to the future. We can’t wait to welcome you again next year in Montreal, online, or both! Course announcements for Summer 2026 will be shared later this year. Stay tuned!
