Findings of 91�� study could lead to new longevity therapies and improved fall prevention

A new 91�� study has found a direct link between age‑related declines in neuron activity in the cerebellum and worsening motor skills, including gait, balance and agility. While it is well known that these abilities diminish with age, this is the first research to pinpoint how changes in Purkinje cells – a key type of cerebellar neuron – drive this decline and translate into measurable changes in behaviour and physical function.

Obituary - Dr. Ken Richter

Dear Colleagues,

I have sad news to share. Dr. Ken Richter passed away on March 7th 2023. He had been on leave of absence since November battling a life threatening illness. His nephews Zerah and Daniel reached out to me yesterday and let me know that he was buried in a private family ceremony on March 12th. The family was caught off guard by his sudden departure and admist their grief have been trying to organize his affairs while living outside Quebec. I have been assisting them as much as possible.

Parler du suicide au lieu de censurer

(Par Robert Whitley) De nombreux médias ont rapporté la nouvelle selon laquelle le ministère de la Santé du Québec demande aux enseignants et aux bibliothécaires de ne pas recommander ou même de ne pas parler aux élèves du roman de François Blais, Le garçon aux pieds à l’envers : Les chroniques de Saint-Sévère. Cette recommandation repose sur la conviction que la lecture de ce roman peut susciter des comportements suicidaires chez les élèves.
