Opening remarks wil l be made by Dr. Mimi Israël\, M.D.\, FRCPC\, Psychiatrist-in-Chief at the Douglas Institute. \n \n Proceeds from ticket sales and donations will go d irectly to the Eating Disorders Program at the Douglas Mental Health Unive rsity Institute. A tax receipt will be issued for any donation above the $ 20 ticket purchase.\n \n In the coming months\, the Douglas Mental Health Un iversity Institute’s Eating Disorders Cottage will be undergoing much need ed renovations. They will be expanding the outpatient space and kitchen ar eas to accommodate the increasing demands. Although the government provide d a grant for the expansion\, it is not enough. The Eating Disorders Progr am needs another $150\,000 to increase the number of inpatient beds from s ix to nine and to increase the number of patients they can treat. \n \n The therapeutic environment that the Douglas provides is welcoming and underst anding. However\, the physical space it occupies is limited\; with one roo m holding the kitchen\, a dining room and therapy ‘living room’. The patie nts who are in Day Hospital spend 40 hours a week in that limited space. T hese renovations will allow for the expansion of areas to include an activ ity room and a larger kitchen to promote safety and fluidity in the cookin g space. Having these separate spaces will help enormously in the function ality of the clinic.\n \n I know that people aren’t comfortable talking abou t mental health and eating disorders\, but it is such a worthwhile cause. I hope not only to raise funds\, but also to raise awareness and start a c onversation. One of the most dangerous symptoms is isolation and silence\, and I truly believe that it is time to speak up!\n \n Sincerely\,\n \n Paulin e Belliveau\n Former patient of the Eating Disorder Clinic\n \n This event is sponsored by Cinema Guzzo. Printed tickets and posters were donated by Im primerie Marion Inc. Tickets and posters designed by Katharine Amyotte\, I ndustrial Designer. Event hosted by Pauline Belliveau with the help of the Douglas’ Mental Health University Institute Foundation.\n \n \n A big thank you to the sponsors and thank YOU for your support!\n DTSTART:20161014T230000Z DTEND:20161015T010000Z LOCATION:CA\, Cinema Guzzo Marché Central SUMMARY:Une soirée pour L'UTA/One night for the EDU URL:/psychiatry/channels/event/une-soiree-pour-lutaone -night-edu-262919 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
