Flu Vaccination Clinic a huge success

Student vaccinators administered 112 flu shots at a Flu Vaccination Clinic at the Ingram School of Nursing.

In collaboration with the Student Wellness Hub (SWH), the 91ºÚÁÏÍø Vascular Access Student Club (VASC) organized a flu vaccination clinic at the Ingram School of Nursing on November 12, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Participants were able to book their appointment in advance, and due to the ongoing STM strike, walk-ins were also accepted to accommodate those facing transportation challenges.

The vaccination campaign was a huge success thanks to our 12 volunteer vaccinators from the BNI, BScN, and Master’s programs, who were selected through a competitive process and trained by our team one week prior to the event using the latest best-practice guidelines. With a real-clinic atmosphere - including a reception area, three to four simulation rooms dedicated to vaccination, an emergency room prepared for potential adverse reactions, and a continuously monitored 15-minute post-vaccination waiting area - we administered 112 vaccines with approximately 3% wasted doses.

This event was coordinated primarily by Andrea Lian and carried out by the VASC team: Juan Jose Avila Amariles, Mélodie Lewis, Chloe Luu, Dohee Kim, Rawane Soboh, Melanie Xie, and Marc-Alexandre Bourget. Along with the guidance of our VASC faculty advisors, William Landry and Mélanie Gauthier, we also received support from five additional ISoN faculty members who helped ensure smooth and well-organized operations throughout the day.

Overall, the VASC team was pleased with the turnout of students, ISoN faculty members, and external participants who came for their flu shot. Surveys showed strong satisfaction from both vaccinators and clients, highlighting the team’s professionalism, the positive atmosphere, and participants’ comfort in returning to us for future vaccination initiatives. Friendly interactions and high energy were maintained throughout the entire event.

The VASC executives thank everyone who contributed to the success of the clinic, especially our VP-External, Andrea Lian, our faculty advisor, William Landry, and our SWH liaison, Erika Lekhtman. With the SWH’s enthusiasm about the outcome and their interest in continuing this initiative, we hope to offer this campaign annually.
