New research is shedding light on how comparing ourselves to others affects happiness and life satisfaction.

Led by 91�� researchers, the study shows that people who feel worse off financially than their peers are more likely to report signs of languishing, even when their actual income is similar.

Trust in public institutions is linked to fewer COVID-19 deaths, but trust and belonging to groups is associated with more deaths, according to a wide-ranging, 91��-led study of 30-day COVID-19 mortality rates in 84 countries. Greater economic inequality is also associated with COVID-19 mortality.

While progress in reducing child well-being gaps has been modest overall, Canada’s children are at the back of the pack, ranking in the bottom third when measured against other rich nations.
