Biography: 

Montreal drummer, Rich Irwin, has spent his career playing jazz, pop, rock, and many other styles all over the world with artists such as Nikki Yanofsky, the McDades, Elizabeth Shepherd, the Canadian National Big Band, Mark Kingswood, Vic Vogel, Dawn Tyler Watson, Remi Bolduc, Julie Lamontagne, Jean-Pierre Zanella, Jeff Johnston, Cynthia Hamar, Acid Bunny, Joel Miller, ONJ, Florence K, Hadrian’s Wall, Christine Jensen, Bruno Pelletier and many others. He has performed at hundreds of events and venues such as Ronnie Scotts, Blue Note, Birdland, L’Olympia, the North Sea Jazz Fest, Chicago Blues Fest, the Montreal International Jazz Fest, Montreal Drumfest, Ralph Angelilo Drumfest, the NAMM show and has played with international artists such as Peter Bernstein, George Coleman, Dave Liebman, Ira Coleman, Dave Kikoski, Freddie Hubbard, Ingrid Jensen, Donny McCaslin, Enrico Pieranunzi, Eric Alexander, Caity Gyorgy, Aaron Parks, Dave Binney, Jean-Michel Pilc, Celine Dion, Dave Young, Benny Benack, Randy Bachman, Bendik Hofseth, Gary Smulyan, Alex Sipiagin, Chucho Valdez, Sheila Jordan, and Yotam Silbertein. His playing can be heard on over 80 albums, including Jennifer Gasoi’s 2013 Grammy winning Throw a Penny in the Wishing Well and Christine Jensen’s 2014 Juno winning Habitat. Rich holds a Masters Degree in Jazz Performance from 91ºÚÁÏÍø, and is a proud artist representing Sonor drums, Zildjian cymbals, Evans drumheads, ProMark sticks, and Protection Racket cases.
