 Creation Collaborations\n\nAbstract: When designing a sound installation i
 n public spaces\, creators consider a wide range of factors related to the
  site where it will be deployed\, as part of the artistic statement. Howev
 er\, anticipating the impact of the sound installation on user experience 
 is difficult in the absence of established methods to inform the design an
 d evaluate the outcomes of such works. Based on three case studies\, this 
 talk introduces a research-creation collaboration framework to systematica
 lly inform – or eventually drive – the design and evaluation of sound inst
 allations in public spaces through four stages: 1) field recordings to cap
 ture the pre-existing sound environment\; 2) diagnosis of the pre-existing
  sound environment in relation to public space usage\; 3) prototyping the 
 sound installation in laboratory settings prior to its deployment\; and 4)
  evaluation of the sound installation once it is deployed on-site.\n\nBio:
  Valérian Fraisse is a PhD Candidate in Music Technology\, in internationa
 l cotutelle between 91ºÚÁÏÍø\, Montreal and IRCAM\, Paris. He is 
 particularly interested in the study of urban soundscapes and in how to ev
 aluate and inform the design of sound installations in public spaces. He h
 olds a double bachelor in Sciences and Musicology from Sorbonne Université
  (Paris) and a Master’s degree in Sciences applied to Music from IRCAM (Pa
 ris).\n
