In this talk\, Prof Beland will examine the poli tical implications of the vote and look at what another Liberal minority m eans for social policy.\n\nAbout the speaker\n\n\n\nDaniel Béland is Direc tor of the 91ºÚÁÏÍø Institute for the Study of Canada and James 91ºÚÁÏÍø Profe ssor at the Department of Political Science at 91ºÚÁÏÍø. A student of politi cs and public policy\, he is currently working on research projects focusi ng on issues ranging from universal social policy and health care reform t o the role of ideas in policy development and the relationship between fis cal policy and welfare state development.\n\nProfessor Béland holds a PhD in Political Sociology from the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Social es (Paris)\, where he returned as a visiting scholar in the spring of 2014 . A Part-Time Professor at the University of Southern Denmark from January 2014 to December 2017\, he has been a visiting scholar at Harvard Univers ity and the National University of Singapore\, a visiting professor at the University of Bremen\, the University of Helsinki\, the University of Sou thern Denmark\, and a Fulbright Scholar at The George Washington Universit y and the National Academy of Social Insurance.
