It is hoped for providing a way to approach classically intractable problems. In the past decade\, there has been a lot of experim ental progress in building quantum annealing machines. On the other hand\, some of the essential aspects as quantum computation are still missing. F or instance\, we do not have an established threshold theorem for error co rrection and we do not know when quantum annealing outperforms classical a lgorithms.
