 lity measures\n					\n					ABSTRACT / RÉSUMÉ \n\n				This paper aims to use copulas to d
 erive estimators of the health concentration curve and Gini coefficient fo
 r health distribution. We highlight the importance of expressing health in
 equality measures in terms of a copula\, which we in turn use to build cop
 ula-based semi and nonparametric estimators of the above measures. Thereaf
 ter\, we study the asymptotic properties of these estimators. In particula
 r\, we establish their consistency and asymptotic normality. We provide ex
 pressions for their variances\, which can be used to construct confidence 
 intervals and build tests for the health concentration curve and Gini heal
 th coefficient. A Monte-Carlo simulation exercise shows that the semiparam
 etric estimator outperforms the smoothed nonparametric estimator\, and the
  latter does better than the empirical estimator in terms of Mean Squared 
 Error. We also run an extensive empirical study where we apply our estimat
 ors to show that the inequalities across U.S. states’s socioeconomic varia
 bles like income/poverty and race/ethnicity explain the observed inequalit
 ies in COVID-19 infections and deaths in the U.S.\n\n				SPEAKER / CONFÉRENCIE

  the Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL\, Belgium). He spent five years
  as a postdoctoral fellow at several international universities (Katholiek
 e Universiteit Leuven (KUL\, Belgium)\, HEC Montreal (Business School)\, U
 niversité de Montréal and 91ºÚÁÏÍø (Departement on Economics)). I
 n 2010\, he joined the Département de mathématiques of the Université de S
 herbrooke as an assistant professor. His research interests include semi- 
 and nonparametric modeling\, econometrics\, survival analysis\, and time s
