Our own Linan Chen will be there to tell us about blend ed learning\, and we will discuss what we think of this way of teaching an d how it could be done in our courses. Linan can then take this back to th e NewMAD working group to be considered when they make recommendations to the administration about blended learning. So it's important we make our v oices heard!\n \n See below for more details\, including how to share your t houghts if you cannot make it to the meeting. We hope to see you there!\n \n Rosalie Bélanger-Rioux\, PhD\n Faculty Lecturer\n 91ºÚÁÏÍø Mathem atics and Statistics Department\n rosalie.belanger-rioux [at] mcgill.ca\n Bu rnside Hall Room 1131\n https://my.theopenscholar.com/rbr\n Gender pronouns: she/her/hers\n \n ---------------------------\n \n The New Methods of Academi c Program Delivery (NewMAD) Work Group is tasked with making recommendatio ns on future models for course and program delivery\, based on our experie nces in the past two years. After the initial round of consultations with the departments and units on (rather general) NewMAD topics\, the Work Gro up has identified specific points for further considerations. Therefore\, we\, Professors Laura Pavelka (NewMAD Work Group Member)\, Tamara Western and Linan Chen (NewMAD Faculty Liaisons)\, are reaching out to the Faculty of Science community for a second time. In particular\, the Work Group is preparing to recommend including the blended learning models as accepta ble modalities for course delivery in the future. In order to carry out th is change properly\, we need your feedback and comments on important issue s such as 'what is contact hour'\, 'what is blended learning'\, 'what is the procedure to implement a blended learning course'\, and related que stions. You will find all the points for discussions in the attached docum ent 'Considerations for Blended Learning' prepared by Laura Pavelka.\n \n If you are not able to join us for discussions at the meeting\, we invite yo u to use the MURAL (also set up by Laura) to provide your feedback (you wi ll need to log in with your 91ºÚÁÏÍø ID\, but the comments are collected ano nymously):\n \n https://app.mural.co/t/facultyworkspace1979/m/facultyworkspa ce1979/1666904135054/62b98cab230d4c92926550bbf9663a56ec004f7b?sender=u5692 0251367436a503589481 \,\n \n or to directly email us at (tamara.western [at] mcgill.ca and (linan.chen [at] mcgill.ca).\n \n The deadline for feedback o n the MURAL and by email is Nov 30.\n \n Thank you for your consideration!\n DTSTART:20221116T163000Z DTEND:20221116T173000Z LOCATION:Room 1205\, Burnside Hall\, CA\, QC\, Montreal\, H3A 0B9\, 805 rue Sherbrooke Ouest SUMMARY:a special meeting to discuss ways to teach courses in a 'blended le arning' way URL:/mathstat/channels/event/special-meeting-discuss-w ays-teach-courses-blended-learning-way-343421 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
