The idea is t o generalize this by allowing arbitrary unknowns to be connected with data via loss functions. An updating process is then detailed which can be vie wed as arising in at least a couple of ways - one being purely axiomatical ly driven.  \n The further exploration of replacing probability model based approaches to inference with loss functions is ongoing.\n Joint work with Chris Holmes\, Pier Giovanni Bissiri and Simon Lyddon.\n DTSTART:20191101T200000Z DTEND:20191101T210000Z LOCATION:Room 1104\, Burnside Hall\, CA\, QC\, Montreal\, H3A 0B9\, 805 rue Sherbrooke Ouest SUMMARY:Stephen Walker (University of Texas) URL:/mathstat/channels/event/stephen-walker-university -texas-302031 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
