In one recipe\, Bayesian inference is used when the prior distribution is known\, frequentist inference when nothing is known about the prior\, and a blend of both when there is some knowledge about t he prior. If the confidence distribution that corresponds to frequentist i nference is practically consistent with the set of posterior distributions derived from the set of priors\, then the confidence distribution alone i s enough for inference. If not\, it exerts a strong influence on inference s drawn on the basis of the set of posterior distributions. That blend is illustrated for the hypothesis testing case by a simple combination of a c onfidence distribution with a set of plausible posterior probabilities.\n DTSTART:20190418T193000Z DTEND:20190418T203000Z LOCATION:Room PK-5115 \, CA\, UQAM Pavillon Kennedy SUMMARY:David Bickel (University of Ottawa) URL:/mathstat/channels/event/david-bickel-university-o ttawa-296271 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
