Non-edible f eedstocks such as animal fat wastes (AFW) have recently increased in popul arity as alternatives to vegetable oils in the production of biodiesel. Th ey are low cost\, mitigate environmental damage and increase the quality o f the resultant biodiesel fuel (low NOx emissions\, high cetane number and oxidative stability). But the presence of a high content in free fatty ac id (FFA) in AFW has been seen as a challenge\, especially when synthesized by alkaline-catalyzed transesterification.\n\nEveryone in the 91ºÚÁÏÍø comm unity is welcome to attend a PhD oral defense. Please join us in celebrati ng the accomplishments of our PhD candidates.
