Their contrib ution to the ecosystem level C budget has often been ignored even if they cover a significant area of the peatland surface. There is therefore a que stion as to whether peatlands containing pools are smaller net sinks of at mospheric C compared to peatlands without pools\; the total C loss measure d from pools is the same order of magnitude\, but with the opposite sign\, as the published average net ecosystem carbon balance for pool-free north ern peatlands. In this study\, I evaluated the annual C release from peatl and open water pools\, its impact on the net ecosystem carbon dioxide exch ange (NEE-CO2) and assessed the NEE-CO2 variability and controls on betwee n peatlands with different pool cover.\n\nEveryone in the 91ºÚÁÏÍø community is welcome to attend a PhD oral defense. Please join us in celebrating th e accomplishments of our PhD candidates.\n DTSTART:20141107T140000Z DTEND:20141107T140000Z LOCATION:MS2-022 (Faculty Lounge)\, Macdonald-Stewart Building\, CA\, QC\, St Anne de Bellevue\, H9X 3V9\, 21111 Lakeshore Road SUMMARY:PhD Oral Defense: Surface to Atmosphere Carbon Exchange in Peatland s with Permanent Open Water Pools URL:/macdonald/channels/event/phd-oral-defense-surface -atmosphere-carbon-exchange-peatlands-permanent-open-water-pools-239679 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
