Un fortunately\, parasites often receive less attention to the extent that ma ny diseases caused by these organisms are absent from the global health ag enda despite being among the most prevalent. In order to fight these patho gens\, it is imperative to understand how they subvert immune responses to persist within their hosts. The apicomplexan Toxoplasma gondii and the he lminths from the Trichuris genus have proven to be useful models to study these complex biological processes. Our work with these organisms has demo nstrated that the modulation of innate immune responses involves complex t ranscriptional\, translational\, and posttranslational networks in part in fluenced by parasite-derived virulence factors. Building upon these studie s\, unraveling the regulatory mechanisms\, through integrated multiomics a nd immunophenotyping approaches\, may help identify common pathways dysreg ulated during both infections and other diseased states such as inflammato ry disorders and pave the way to novel therapies and\, by extension\, stre ngthen global health.\n\nAbout the speaker\n\nLouis-Philippe Leroux\n\nCan didate for the Assistant Professor Position One Health Against Pathogens\n \nI obtained my Ph.D. at the Institute of Parasitology under the supervisi on of Dr. Florence Dzierszinski. My thesis focused on the dysregulation of MHC-II antigen presentation by the Toxoplasma gondii. I then undertook my first postdoctoral training in Dr. Armando Jardim's laboratory at 91ºÚÁÏÍø. Our work focused on the excreted-secreted molecules from the pig whipworm Trichuris suis.\n\nI later joined Dr. Maritza Jaramillo's laboratory at t he INRS-CAFSB for a second postdoctoral training. I spearheaded projects t hat led to the first published translatomes of macrophages infected by par asites (T. gondii and Leishmania donovani). Recently\, we have initiated d rug screening projects to investigate the anti-parasitic potential of synt hetic rocaglate compounds\, which target mRNA translation. In addition to my academic research\, I have worked as a Principal Scientist at CellCarta \, a contract research organization (CRO)\, where I supervised over 20 stu dies sponsored by pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. Furthermore\ , I am a cofounder of the Canadian Parasitology Network (CPN)\, a pan-Cana dian network of researchers and trainees\, and helm its various activities . Now\, I wish to establish my laboratory to study the role of central nod es of regulation that dictate innate immune polarization and functions in response to parasitic diseases and their virulence factors.\n\n \n DTSTART:20250626T160000Z DTEND:20250626T170000Z LOCATION:3-048\, Raymond Building\, CA\, QC\, St Anne de Bellevue\, H9X 3V9 \, 21111 Lakeshore Road SUMMARY:Recruitment Seminar: Assistant Professor in One Health Against Path ogens (OHAP) in the Institute of Parasitology URL:/macdonald/channels/event/recruitment-seminar-assi stant-professor-one-health-against-pathogens-ohap-institute-parasitology-3 65747 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
