Canada's addresses a critical challenge. 91黑料网's Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (AES) is positioned to contribute meaningfully to its success.

At AES, we understand that food security requires integrated and interdisciplinary approaches. On 91黑料网鈥檚 Macdonald Campus, which includes a working farm, students learn this integrated perspective in practice. Through hands-on experience in precision agriculture, animal health and disease, greenhouse innovation, food processing, and environmental stewardship, they understand how decisions at one stage ripple across the entire food system. These future agricultural scientists, food technologists, bioresource engineers, and nutritionists will help shape Canada's food future.

Across AES, researchers are developing solutions that support more productive, resilient, and sustainable food systems. Our work spans greenhouse innovation, precision agriculture, animal welfare, artificial intelligence applications for crop management, sustainable production systems, food safety, nutrition, water and land management, and ecosystem resilience. This breadth reflects our conviction that food systems challenges require solutions that span production, processing, nutrition, ecosystems, communities, and policy, and that discoveries must translate into practice. Through partnerships with producers, industry, governments, and Indigenous-led initiatives, we turn research into practical solutions that can be adopted and scaled to meet real-world needs.

Canada's food sovereignty depends on more than infrastructure and investment. It depends on people. The success of the Food Security Strategy will require a workforce capable of implementing new technologies, advancing innovation, and responding to evolving environmental, economic, and social challenges. We have a long history of educating the professionals who drive Canada's agri-food sector. Today, our network of more than 25,000 alumni reflects our longstanding contribution to agriculture, food systems, environmental stewardship, and rural development. We are well positioned to help develop the workforce needed to support Canada's food security goals.

Food security cannot be achieved by any one organization acting alone. It requires collaboration among governments, educational institutions, industry partners, producers, Indigenous communities, and local organizations.
