 n Fellow in Residence Assistant Professor Dorothy Estrada-Tanck\, Universi
 ty of Murcia\, Spain.\n\nThis talk will focus particularly on the 2008 UN 
 Optional Protocol to the International Covenant on Economic\, Social and C
 ultural Rights\, and select case studies of individual communications pres
 ented to the competent UN Committee on violations of these rights. By doin
 g so\, the talk will also touch on how legal categories promote/allow incl
 usion\, exclusion and vulnerability around different axis\, such as migrat
 ory status\, gender\, socio-economic condition\, and disability\, and the 
 ways in which the law may (or not) work in favour of the effective realiza
 tion of human rights\, equality and social justice.\n\nAbout the speaker\n
 \nDorothy Estrada-Tanck is Assistant Professor (tenure-track) of Internati
 onal Law and International Relations at the University of Murcia\, Spain\,
  and co-Director of the Legal Clinic of its Faculty of Law. She holds a Ph
 D in Law from the European University Institute\, an MSc in Political Theo
 ry from the London School of Economics and Political Science\, and a law d
 egree (Mexico City). She enjoys broad academic and professional experience
  in the United Nations\, State bodies and NGOs in Mexico\, Italy\, the US 
 and Spain\, focusing on issues of human rights\, migration\, gender\, and 
 socio-economic justice. She has published extensively in English and Spani
 sh\, and she is the author of Human Security and Human Rights under Intern
 ational Law: The Protections Offered to Persons Confronting Structural Vul
 nerability (Oxford: Hart Publishing 2016)\, which received the Best Book P
 rize 2017 of the Inter-American Bar Association Washington\, D.C.\n
