Attendance is open to all. For more informati on\, please contact the Crépeau Centre: centre.crepeau [at] mcgill.ca\n\nS peaker: Phil Lord (91ºÚÁÏÍø)\n\nPhil Lord's seminar explores the role and expressions of law in Green Eggs and Ham\, the fourth best-sellin g children’s book of all time. It frames non-didactic children’s literatur e as constitutive of internal behavioural norms in the child-reader. It ex plores how the constitution of those norms is fundamentally different when it occurs away from the typical interplay of authority and positivism. Th e paper also casts Sam-I-am\, the protagonist\, as the lawyer par excellen ce\, embodying such character traits as persistence\, open-mindedness\, an d confidence. By distilling law and psychology down to basic concepts of s ocial interaction\, otherness\, and agency\; it deconstructs to reconstruc t\, framing children’s literature as a fundamental source of law.\n DTSTART:20180605T163000Z DTEND:20180605T173000Z LOCATION:NCDH 316\, Chancellor Day Hall\, CA\, QC\, Montreal\, H3A 1W9\, 36 44 rue Peel SUMMARY:Summer Seminar: Law and Green Eggs and Ham URL:/law/channels/event/summer-seminar-law-and-green-e ggs-and-ham-287488 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
