DESCRIPTION:This transatlantic seminar seeks to start a reflection on books
  in the context of the study and learning of law. The starting point of th
 is discussion is the idea that a book is a composition that seeks to gathe
 r its subject into an intelligible whole\, which seems out of step with co
 ntemporary modes of writing the law. These modes sometimes seem more appro
 priate to the complexity of the legal phenomenon as it appears to lawyers 
 and the public. From the outset\, questions about the current state and th
 e future of literary forms of law invite us to a broader inquiry that focu
