DESCRIPTION:Applying for funding is an integral part of life as a graduate 
 student and working as a professional academic or researcher. Although you
  may be experienced in writing about your research\, the committees review
 ing your application will be composed of experts from multiple disciplines
 . In most cases\, those evaluating your application will not be at all fam
 iliar with your specific area of research. Writing a strong fellowship app
 lication\, therefore\, means understanding the needs of this audience with
  regard to structuring a convincing narrative throughout. Participants wil
 l learn the following strategies: how to clearly present your proposed res
 earch for a fellowship application\;how to frame the significance of the r
 esearch. Requirements: Have on hand either a draft proposal or a 1/2 to 1-
 page outline of a research project for which you will be (or might be) app
 lying for a fellowship application. This workshop is led by Dr. Amanda Per
 ry\, who holds a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from New York University.
  She has taught literature at NYU and Concordia\, and she has multiple aca
 demic publications in peer-reviewed journals and edited volumes.Online Eve
