Prof. Zhou is the inaugural recipient of the $30,000 Banting-Canerector Foundation Discovery Award, which was created to support pioneering research into Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) and Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders (HSD)—conditions that affect the body's connective tissues.

Yasser Riazalhosseini, PhD, Associate Professor in the Department of Human Genetics, and Head of Cancer Genomics at the Victor Phillip Dahdaleh Institute of Genomic Medicine and clinicians from 91�� Health Centre have received funding from the US Department of Defense (DoD) for nearly $2M to discover improved methods for risk assessment and therapeutic treatment to fight against clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC), the most common subtype of kidney cancer.

Raquel Cuella Martin, Ph.D., Assistant Professor in the Department of Human Genetics, has been honored with the Gairdner Foundation's prestigious Early Career Investigator Award. She is one of only five researchers selected for this recognition. Dr. Cuella Martin will showcase her research in precision genome engineering at the 2024 Gairdner Science Week, taking place in Toronto from October 23 to 25, alongside the esteemed 2024 Gairdner Awardees.
