This seminar will focus on alternative funding sources for graduate students in neuroscienc e and related disciplines.\n\nOther topics will include: traditional fundi ng sources (federal\, provincial\, and internal)\, how to choose which sch olarships to apply for (e.g.\, stacking\, quotas\, estimating expected val ue)\, common pitfalls (e.g.\, internal/external deadlines\, departmental n omination\, where not to look for scholarships)\, and overcoming common ex cuses (low GPA\, no publications\, not enough time). The seminar will feat ure stories of 91ºÚÁÏÍø graduate students who obtained substantial funding t hrough traditional and alternative sources.\n\n \n\nThe seminar will be le d by Jay Olson\, M.Sc.\, a PhD candidate in Psychiatry at 91ºÚÁÏÍø. He has b een offered over 25 grants\, scholarships\, and financial awards during hi s graduate studies\, from Mitacs\, SSHRC\, NSERC\, FRQSC\, IRRST\, SCEH\, and other unpronounceable acronyms.\n\n \n\nRefreshments will be provided.
